It is not unusual for an ambiguous crewman manning a humble vessel sailing the luminiferous aethers of space to occasionally spot out a cluster of asteroids whirling amid the shrieking cyclones of aether and phlogiston as they lean over the forecastle's railing. However, it is rather unusual for the same crewman to discern that every asteroid in said cluster are all moored together by a network of cords. That gobsmacked crewman will perhaps stagger back with sheer incomprehension, unless he knows the cluster is an abode of the Kyagul, the myriad progeny of a tribe of Tqqrenvlonian Arachne living somewhere in Thoolarium, whose women all decided it was a great idea one year to collectively lay their eggs on a highland boulder that would potentially be lifted into the skies by awry otherworldly forces and set soaring into the cosmos. It was rather fortunate that their mothers planted enough plants to provide them with sufficient food and water, and the stellar god Ereii took pity on them and allowed the morning dew to settle on every leaf on their asteroid. He sowed metaphysical seeds of life into the asteroid, allowing it to form a minute ecosystem that would support the Kyagul, and made it so that their matriarch would telepathically control the asteroid's ambulation. Over the course of the asteroid's travels, it collided with other asteroids, and the Kyagul moored said asteroids to their own so that they could have more space to live. This went on for quite some time until they thought it would be quite a spiffing idea to hollow out the asteroids on which they lived, and they transitioned from living in leaky surface hovels into cavernous warrens dimly lit by glow-worms in thin lamps, or even electricity or fire run through pressurized, distilled cosmic aethers. The rocky abodes of the Kyagul are colonized asteroids whose surfaces are dedicated entirely to farming livestock and produce that needs no sunlight, and occasionally they can be seen scuttling across the surface. Beneath entrances obscured by boulders and outcrops are their inner cities, that house all the facilities needed to support a civilization of spider-people, as well as theaters and auditorums, as they seem to favour theatrics and music as the primest form of entertainment. As they have spent so much time in their one settlement, they have certainly passed the time decorating the place with engravings and mosaics and laying their webs across every nook and cranny in their city, as there are no roads there. The massive networks of webs are ancient cords of tightly woven silk that hold the hollow asteroids together. Each asteroid is recognized as its own state led by its own autocrat.
